The Circum-Baikal Railway can rightly be called the main man-made attraction on the Lake. It is the unique monument of architecture and engineering minds, the part of Trans-Siberian Railway and one of the most beautiful places of Baikal region.

The Circum-Baikal Railway is the most expensive and most beautiful railroad built in imperial times. This road was built between 1896 and 1900 years by architects and engineers from Russia, Italy, Latvia, Poland and Albania.

Winter Baikal Lake Crossing Tour

(possible only from middle of February till middle of March)

One of the most popular routes on the Baikal ice is from Staraya Angasolka village (West Baikal coast) up to Slyudyanka (East Baikal coast). The ice thickness can reach two metres and it is so strong that even hundreds people can stand in one place.

The tour is given the opportunity to assess your strength in the conquest of the ice expanses and to explore the Lake power. The Baikal ice in some places is so smooth and clear that allows you to see the inhabitants of the Baikal flora and fauna in the depths. Overcoming the ice hummocks and cracks adds to you more impressive experiences.
